If using over-the-counter lip balms doesn’t work to heal your cracked lips, make yourself some healing lip balm that will not only cure sore lips, but will prevent them.
Things You’ll Need
Beeswax
Double boiler
Raw honey
Sweet almond oil
Cocoa butter
1,000 IU Vitamin E capsules
Small containers with tight fitting lids
1.Melt 4 Tbsp. of beeswax on the top portion of a double boiler, stirring constantly. Heat the wax slowly and never heat wax in a microwave or regular pan, as it is potentially flammable if exposed to direct heat. For best results, use beeswax pellets, or chop the beeswax into small pieces before beginning your lip healing balm.
2.Heat the wax until smooth and then turn off the burner under the double boiler. Continue stirring the wax and add in 2 tsp. of raw honey. Mix until even. Raw honey is one of the best ingredients for sore lips, as it moisturizers, promotes healing and kills bacteria.
3.Stir in 4 tbsp. of sweet almond oil and 1 tsp. of cocoa butter, mixing until even. Finally, squeeze the contents of one 1000 IU vitamin E capsule into the mix. Not only does vitamin E help to promote the healthy regeneration of skin, it is also a natural preservative that will ensure that your balm lasts 6 to 12 months.
4.Pour the hot balm into containers, allow the mixture to harden and cool completely before sealing with the lids.
5.Use your lip balm on sore lips any time to help them heal, as protection when in the sun, wind and cold, or any time for a protective gloss.
